Tyrone “Baldy” Davis

Raised in the world renowned Marcy Houses in the heart of Bedford-Stuyvesant, New York, Tyrone “Baldy” Davis made a name for himself across the Tri-State area for his prowess in basketball. Davis, like countless young people, benefitted from community basketball programs. In Brooklyn, New York, like metropolitan areas around the world, sports are a lifesaving outlet for young people marginalized by society. As an adult, Davis gave generously with his time as a coach and as a sponsor of extracurricular summer basketball tournaments and various programmings.

Following Davis’s tragic passing in October 2008 due to gun violence, the Tyrone “Baldy” Davis Foundation was established to continue his life’s mission: enriching the lives of diverse young people through community engagement, sportsmanship and healthy competition.
